Contractors, Developers Say Scaffold Law Reform Gains Traction

Today, the Albany Business Review covered Scaffold Law Reform Day at the Capitol, and interviewed Lawsuit Reform Alliance Executive Director Tom Stebbins.

Louis Coletti, president and CEO of the Building Trades Employers’ Association, a contractors group based in New York City, says the effort to reform the Scaffold Law may finally see results this year.

He spoke in Albany as special interest groups, including unions and business trade groups, flocked to lobbying day, the annual push to sway lawmakers during state budget debates.

For the Scaffold Law, the story has taken a dramatic turn this year following the arrest of former Assembly Speaker Sheldon Silver, who has been a leading opponent of reforming the law.
