The Watertown Daily News Editorial Board published an article favoring Scaffold Law reform for relief for northern New York businesses.
“The state Scaffold Law costs New York taxpayers about $785 million each year, despite the fact that the average number of incidents involving scaffold-related injuries has declined.
It’s also increasing the cost of constructing the new Tappan Zee Bridge by between $200 million and $400 million. The law adds as much as $10,000 to the costs of building a new home.
These are a few of the facts presented on www.ScaffoldLaw.org, a project of the Lawsuit Reform Alliance of New York. The Scaffold Law is one of those statutes that, while prime for revision, seems untouchable.”
