The Watertown Daily Times recently published an article in favor of Scaffold Law reform and highlighting it’s hindrance for Northern New York contractors.
“Under New York state Scaffold Law, a construction worker’s carelessness is, without exception, an employers’ expense.
But this isn’t news for private or government contractors, and the state is no stranger to Scaffold Law reform efforts.
New York is the only state in the country with a Scaffold Law that imposes absolute liability on construction employers when workers suffer “gravity-related” injuries. Employers must pay full coverage for a work-related incident regardless of who is more at fault. Otherwise, an injured worker can sue.”
