New York Post Editorial: Here’s How to Help Pay for a New Cross-Hudson Tunnel

“As officials race to find funds for a new cross-Hudson train tunnel before the existing one fails, a nonpartisan group has ID’d up to $300 million that could be saved right off the top — by ditching the state’s Scaffold Law.

The move might even make the tunnel’s construction safer for workers.

Common Good says the law, a vestige from the 1800s that benefits only lawyers and insurers, will add as much $300 million to the tunnel’s $13 billion price tag, based on an estimate by a Port Authority official.”
