Rochester construction leaders call for end to Scaffold Law

Contractors in Rochester say New York’s Scaffold Law is killing the construction industry.

A coalition of construction leaders in Rochester said the law wastes hundreds of millions of taxpayer dollars a year, killing jobs in the Rochester area.

They also say the law increases construction costs on all projects because it holds building companies 100 percent liable for gravity-related injures that happen on the job.

The coalition is calling on state lawmakers to reform the costly and outdated law as soon as possible.
